THE INSPIRATION
The inspiration of these works is essentially coming from the Avant-garde Art currents such as Surrealism (De Chirico, Dalì) and Dadaism, from the german Expressionism of the silent cinema of the 20’s and 30’s, and from Leonardo’s technical and anatomic drawings. Main topics of these works are the prospectic representation of the space, the many skulls on which imaginary and modern cities grow mixed with comics elements and different kinds of inscriptions and quotations. |
Though the clear choice of dark, sinister and disturbing topics as Dante’s Hell (where Dante and his fellow traveller Virgilio are represented with skulls), and as burning cities, the artist’s always trying to speak in a good ironical way with the purpose of avoiding too much drama.
